Walk in the woods
November 26, 2008
A walk at dusk on the Limberlost trail yielded nothing in the way of wildlife on Tuesday in Shenandoah National Park.
Snow was still on the ground along the route, but there were no visible tracks save one squirrel. I thought the time of day might increase the odds of seeing creatures, but no such luck.
Instead of doing the full circuit, I cut off of Limberlost through Whiteoak Canyon Trail over to the fire road. The changes in trail composition were nice. Whiteoak is a more traditional trail, whereas Limberlost feels like a walk in a city park on pavement.
The fact that I’ve previously seen bobcat tracks on that trail is going to keep bugging me until I finally track one down.
