Hitting the Arboretum
February 5, 2009
This evening I made a quick stop in Harrisonburg at the JMU Arboretum.
Snow was still plentiful and thicker than three inches along much of the area. The pond was mostly frozen and made for a nice scene.
After a scan of the area, I wasn’t able to find anything besides birds and squirrels, and with daylight fading, I left without any other success.
Opportunities to find animals in the snow are soon to end, with a dramatic increase in temperature rolling in on the area. I’m glad I’ve had the opportunity to get out a bit with the unique scenery snow presents.

I drove past Silver Lake in Dayton today, and if you want pictures of ducks, I saw at least 2 distinctively different species there (mallard and some larger kind that was brown speckled), and lots of them. Sure you’ve seen plenty of ducks elsewhere, tho 🙂

Thanks for the tip. I haven’t been there in a while.
