Bearfence Mountain in SNP

February 17, 2009

A Monday afternoon trip in Shenandoah National Park included a chilly but pleasant trip up Bearfence Mountain.

Wildlife sightings were minimal beyond deer and squirrel. At certain points I was hopeful that animals would begin emerging as a light snow began to fall. However, nothing of significance stuck on the ground and nothing happened worth photographing. When visiting Bearfence, I like going during the weekdays since it is often popular on the weekends.

I’ve written previously about Bearfence here.

After the trip up the mountain, we headed north and swung by Big Meadows. The rust-colored vegetation looked gorgeous in the golden light of sunset and I managed to make a few images.
