Snowy day in Alexandria
December 19, 2009
Saturday I ventured out into the first good snowstorm of the year to see what I could find in Holmes Run Park. The snow was probably 1-1.5 feet deep and still coming for most of the adventure.
Although I wasn’t the only person in the park, I still found the settings relatively undisturbed and I was able to make some nice scenic shots.
Initially, I found little in the way of wildlife, but as I went along I began hearing more and more birds. Although they were hard to find at first, I began to hone in on them after a while and made some images I’m very pleased with.
I also spoke to a few nearby residents who mentioned seeing a fox earlier in the day. That would be a great subject to find one day.
In the city, there were a few cars out (not that they didn’t try) but most people hit the streets on foot. That made for some nice images as well. All in all, an interesting day. Stay warm, stay safe.

And in thy own sermon, thou
That the sparrow falls dost allow,
It shall not cause me any alarm;
For neither so comes the bird to harm,
Seeing our Father, thou hast said,
Is by the sparrow’s dying bed;
Therefore it is a blessed place,
And the sparrow in high grace.
