Guess the baby bird

Happy May! Saturday I made a short scan of Holmes Run Park in Alexandria. Although I didn’t see anything too crazy, I did find a mystery baby bird.
This little guy was chirping away in a tree and kept it up long enough for me to find him (or her).
So what do you think it is? Based on the density of Cardinals in the area, that is my guess. For comparison, here is a female Cardinal that was watching me while I was near the baby.
There were a few other bird observations but nothing major. Overall just a quick little outing.

Judging by the beak and the talons, I’m going to have to disagree.

Baby birds look really different than the adults, so I won’t venture a guess.
